In-Home Therapy FAQs
Who qualifies for in-home physical therapy?
In-home therapy is appropriate for patients who: (1) are homebound or have difficulty leaving home due to medical condition or mobility issues, (2) are recovering from surgery or hospitalization, (3) have significant fall risk, (4) have transportation barriers, or (5) would benefit from therapy in their actual home environment. Medicare requires you to be homebound (leaving home requires considerable and taxing effort). Private insurance criteria vary but generally cover home therapy when medically necessary.
Do you serve patients in Clarksville and New Albany?
Yes! We provide comprehensive in-home physical therapy and occupational therapy throughout Clarksville, New Albany, Jeffersonville, Sellersburg, and all of Clark County and Floyd County in Southern Indiana. We also serve Louisville and surrounding Kentucky communities. Call 855-465-7626 to verify coverage for your specific address.
How does home physical therapy work?
Your licensed physical therapist comes to your home with all necessary equipment (resistance bands, weights, balance equipment, etc.) at scheduled appointment times. During the first visit, we conduct a comprehensive evaluation of your condition and home environment. We then create a customized treatment plan and provide hands-on therapy, therapeutic exercises, and education during each visit. Sessions typically last 45-90 minutes and occur 1-3 times per week depending on your needs and insurance coverage.
Is in-home therapy more expensive than clinic-based therapy?
No! Most insurance plans, including Medicare, cover home-based therapy at the same rate as clinic visits when medically necessary. There's no additional charge for the convenience of home visits. We verify your insurance benefits upfront so you know exactly what to expect. Medicare Part B covers 80% after deductible, and you pay 20% coinsurance—the same as clinic therapy.
Does Medicare cover in-home PT and OT in Indiana and Kentucky?
Yes! Medicare Part B covers in-home physical therapy and occupational therapy when you are homebound (leaving home is difficult due to medical condition) and therapy is medically necessary. You need a doctor's order for home health services. Medicare covers 80% of approved costs after you meet your Part B deductible. We handle all Medicare documentation and billing for you.
